Length: 5 inch, Width: 1 3/4 inch, Height: 2 1/4 inch. These items fall into at least three collectable categories - shoes, marbled glass, Sowerby items. From the upper photo, we can see both vertical ribbing around the body of the shoe and horizontal ribbing on the uppers. Looking a little more closely we can also see the beaded pattern just below the rim of the body. The tied bow design can be seen on the front of one shoe - but perhaps not so clear is the ribbon flowing down from the tie and around the body, curving towards the toe. The lower photo shows that the heel and sole are both hollow - not too comfortable if used as a genuine shoe design? In the image of the interior, the Sowerby mark can just be made out in the indentation above the heel section. To the left of the trademark is the Rd. Number 87058 which indicates 1887 as the design registration date. Formerly in the Cyril Manley collection. |
