Handled Salt

Height: 1 7/8 inch, Diameter 2 3/4 inch.

A wonderful pair of salts in an "ancient" shape - deep, rounded bowls with small loop handles. The rims are smooth and rounded and the moulding is very clean and even.

The photo of the base of one item shows not only the Sowerby Trademark and Registration Lozenge, but also the excellent form of the twisted ribbed design.

From the Registration mark, we know the design dates to 18 September, 1878 ("18" at top, "P" to right, "D" to bottom) and the parcel number is "7".
