This very striking weight has a gently mottled light blue ground with roundel patterns in strong colours. The design is completed with the use of a very strong cane for the central and outer features.

Each roundel uses two canes with a row of one type around a single central item. For some weights of this pattern, the roundel outer cane is the same as the inner one for its neighbour. In this example, almost all canes are different - but the white "stardust" cane of one roundel outer row is used as the central element to the yellow roundel.

The colours, clockwise from the top, are primarily: a) maroon-white-green centre with green-white-yellow outer row, b) orange-white centre and pink-white-orange outer row, c) white-red inner with yellow-white outer, d) white-red centre and blue-white outer row, e) grey-yellow central cane encircled by white-red canes. For the main central and outer edge elements, a cane structure of orange-white around green-white is used.

The script signature is not as precise as seen in other examples. This may be just a case of equipment and conditions at the time of signing. Or perhaps it was signed when Paul Ysart was quite elderly.

The weight was formerly in the Michael Parkington collection but was not selected for illustration in Ysart Glass.

Clear glass indicates 1950s or later. UV tests confirm the Harland or later period of 1971 to 1979.

Diameter 2 7/8 inch, Height 2 inch.
